Folsom Lake is a prominent feature of our area. Every year we see the water level drop as summer wears on until seasonal rains and snowfall refill it. This year we see much more of Folsom Lake Revealed by the incredibly low water levels. My husband and I can see the lake from our back yard but today took a walk down into the area and what is usually covered with water.
This is the view from the Highland View Neighborhood in El Dorado Hills.
Granite Bay is across the lake and the dam is in the center on the horizon.
This is looking toward the Summit and Southpointe. If you look hard in the middle of the picture you can see the masts of sail boats at the marina and the Brown's Ravine boat launch.
Here are a couple pictures of Folsom Lake in Summer 2011.
Before the lake was formed there use to be a community called Mormon Island. Today we could see roads and reminents of the pre-lake area. Here is a link to more information on Mormon Island and what existed here before Folsom Lake.
Though it is interesting to see Folsom Lake Revealed, I prefer how we've become accustomed to seeing it... blue!
