Star Gazing in Placerville, El Dorado County

As a star gazer at heart, I couldn't be more excited to learn there is an observatory right here in our own El Dorado County!  Thanks Tom Arstingstall for bringing it to my attention!

If you enjoy looking to the skies, this is an opportunity to see the stars, moon, and planets. You will be able to experience seeing the heavens in a way that many never get to see it, through a high powered telescope. Here is how the Observatory explains the service that they provide:

*The Cameron Park Rotary Community Observatory is your window to the night sky!  See the stars through the 14-inch reflecting telescopes on a clear dark night.  Follow planets or the moon as they travel across the sky. Bring the whole family for an unforgettable experience in the foothills of El Dorado County. The observatory was conceived by the Rotary Club of Cameron Park as a community service project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Rotary International.   The Rotary Club members raised all of the funds and donated time and materials to build the observatory on land owned by the El Dorado County Office of Education adjacent to the El Dorado Center of Folsom Lake College.

The Community Observatory is located at 6699 Campus Drive, Placerville, CA.

The Observatory is FREE to all visitors, but DONATIONS are most certainly welcome to support the maintenance of the facility and telescopes.

Located in Placerville, El Dorado County
